Attributed to Otto Hofner (1879-1946)  Oil Painting 1915
 
A stylish portrait in profile, of a gentleman in a fashionable cap, signed Hofner and dated 1915.  The painting could be by Otto Hofner the Austrian artist, 1879 to 1946. Otto is the only listed artist I can find who could have painted this work in 1915. Hofner was most noted for his sculptures, in particular his portrait reliefs which often featured heads in profile.  
Hofner worked as a teacher at the cooperative college for gold and silversmiths in Vienna, but was also active as a freelance artist. From 1909 he was a member of the Kunstlerhaus,   an art exhibition centre in Vienna. He also participated in the Summer Olympic art competitions of 1932, 1936 and 1948.
Condition.
In excellent original bright condition.  The Montparnasse frame has been adjusted to fit and has age associated wear and tear.
